Border Collies Information - What You May Need to Know about Adoption of Rescue Dogs
Border Collies are both easy and difficult to adopt. Some people are prejudiced as far as a rescue dog's health and behavior are concerned. Indeed, the background of such dogs is often unknown. However, in most cases it's not the dogs' fault that they are placed in shelters. More often than not, their previous owners found it impossible to keep on caring for them. They are usually very valid reasons, but nonetheless giving up a dog doesn't make the things less complicated and doesn't make the owner free from responsibility.

You may take up this responsibility. A dog from a breeder will cost about 300-600 dollars. Adopting a rescue dog is not that expensive. Shelter dogs may cost 25-100 dollars. And this doesn't mean that shelter dogs are worse. You can even find a purebred dog in a shelter. If buying a show or pedigree Border Collie is unimportant, consider adopting a dog. It may not be a high quality dog, but it will seize an opportunity to make a high quality pet for you.
Border Collies are frequently found in shelters. Their wit and energy require application. It's necessary to realize the needs of such a dog. An active and hard-working dog, such as the Border Collie, won't be satisfied with just rare walks. It needs to be busy, to work hard for its master, to run and to jump. The Border Collie is almost certain to outwit other breeds in competitions when given such a chance. If the needs of a dog are neglected, it may develop an aggressive personality. The dog's misbehavior in this case is to be interpreted as the owner's mistake.
If you take a closer look at the procedure of adoption, it will seem that you are adopting a child, not a dog. There are many serious questions to answer. Rescue organizations don't look for temporary homes for their dogs. Rescues want to make sure the prospective owners is the person who is willing and able to provide the dog with a permanent home. Think about giving such a home to rescue Border Collies.
